Spirit Guidance

It was the end of January 2000, and my mum was slowly dying in Scotland while I lived in London.

I’d been up to visit her in hospital and hoped that I would somehow be able to do something to heal her; to stop the inevitable. But her body was giving up and it was her time to go.  I returned to London, feeling powerless and lost in the face of terminal illness.

So I did the only thing I could do from a distance – I went for healing. During the healing session I could see the angels that were all around my mum’s bed; bigger than the room, shining bright and radiant.

I knew she was in safe hands.

And then Mother Mary appeared in my inner vision during the healing. I wasn’t brought up Catholic or indeed with any religious guidance so I wouldn’t have expected her to appear. I was reading about Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu spirituality at the time so would have expected a deity from those cultures to appear instead.

But no, it was Mother Mary dressed in blue; embodying the divine mother archetype. She held us both during the healing, and we were bathed in her nurturing compassionate energy. Mum died the next morning and I found out that I was pregnant.  Mother Mary was the perfect spirit guide to come to us that night.

The spirit guides that come into your life are always those who can help you most.

You will have a lifetime connection with particular guides; others might appear to help you with a specific issue or project.

When I was teaching weekly meditation classes, a smiling Tibetan Buddhist monk started to appear when I was preparing for the class. With his guidance I had the confidence to go into the room without writing the meditation in advance. I would simply connect with him, visualise the energy that I wanted the meditation to embody, close my eyes, open my mouth and the words would come through. I knew that I was absolutely supported and spirit would guide me.

Recently a new guide appeared when I was working on a Soul Message for a particular client, and I thought she was coming through just for that session but she stayed around. She kept appearing when I was in the woods and I began to think she had a particular interest in essence-making.

blaeberry

Then I made hellebore essence and she was right there by my side. I think she might be the hellebore deva but I’m wondering if she is here to help with all my essence-making. I’m excited to see if she appears the next time I make a flower essence from a different plant.

She is particularly aligned to the woodland and the wild sisterhood of the forest. She is helping to reawaken the sacred feminine and the deep riches of the wise womb. I feel so alive and empowered by her energy; I feel like I am finally embodying what I am here to do. I feel earthier, wiser and more sure of myself from knowing her.

Many years ago a kinesiologist told me that I had lots of spirit guides and helpers. My first thought was that I must be really special to have so many guides. Then, hot on its heels, the next thought was that I must be really messed up to NEED so many guides. Our egos are funny, aren’t they?

I believe that we all have lots of spirit guides and helpers, we just don’t necessarily connect with them on a conscious basis.

I’ve noticed that when I’m doing Soul messages, some people’s spirit guides are much more visible and present than others. I believe that this is because those people are working with their spirit guides more than others so their guides are more noticeable.

If I turned up at someone’s house and they didn’t bother to look at me or say hello I probably wouldn’t be as likely to go back as I would if we’d had a really good chat and a cup of tea. I’m pretty sure it’s the same with spirit guides.

The more you consciously connect with spirit guides and welcome them into your life, the more they communicate with you and you can enjoy their guidance and support.

primrose

Spirit guides can comfort and reassure; reminding you that you are never alone. They can nudge you to go to particular places or connect with particular people that will open up your world in beautiful new ways. They will give you affirmation and signs to guide you to the best decisions for your highest divine good.

How many times have you felt guided to go to a particular place, or to buy the paper on a particular day to check out job ads, or to attend a particular workshop, only for it to lead to something wonderful?

People often comment on how clear I am about doing what is right for me. I just know; I feel strong yes and no answers in my body. Sometimes I ignore that inner guidance and stubbornly do something that I know is not in my best interests instead but my inner compass is strong. I know that my guides are with me every step of the way.

When you open up to your spirit guides, you will never feel alone. You will always have a circle of love and support to guide you to the most beautiful life for you.

My dear friend Karina created a Spirit Guide Kit to give you all the guidance and support you need to develop a deep and loving relationship with your guides.

She’s offering it on a Pay-What-You-Can basis until midnight tonight so go get yours today. Karina is a channel for love and light and I know that her love-soaked Spirit Guide Kit will add an extra dimension(!) to your spiritual practice.

Is Your Soul or Your Personality Running Your Life?

Dr Edward Bach, who discovered the Bach Flower Remedies, said that true health comes from bringing your personality into alignment with your Soul, but how can you tell if they’re aligned?

What can you do if they’re not? And how can you recognise if your personality (rather than your Soul) is running the show?

allium

Your Soul

Your Soul is the eternal all-loving template for your existence that carries the vibration of your true essence. It’s the compass that is always guiding you to love and light and joy and inspiration.

Your Soul only knows divine qualities like beauty, grace, integrity and surrender so it doesn’t resonate with fear or disrespect or cruelty or control.

Your Soul is your direct pathway to Source energy (which you may think of as God/Goddess, Love, All That Is). The more you are in alignment with your Soul the closer you feel to the Divine.

If you’re feeling inspired, at peace with your choices and have a deep sense of all being well in the world, then your Soul is in charge. Opportunities open up for you and synchronicities happen. You have no regrets, no doubts, just a sense of everything being in the right place at the right time. Life feels good!

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Your Personality

The personality (also known as the ego) defines how you experience your life and it’s guided by your mind and your emotions. The thoughts and beliefs you carry about yourself and the world are expressed through your personality.

If your beliefs and emotions are healthy and loving, then your personality is in alignment with your Soul.

But if you’re feeling unworthy or fearful or in pain or stuck, it’s a sign that your personality is trying to run the show on its own and that’s not its job.

It’s your Soul’s job to run the show, and your personality’s job is to open up to more and more Soul-level guidance. You can think of it like your Soul being the director of the movie of your life and your personality is the lead actor.

Your personality can improvise and add depth and humour to the drama of your life and there would be no movie without it. But it’s your Soul that holds the overall vision for you and sees the bigger perspective, so it needs to guide your choices. Your personality can’t always be trusted to make choices that are for your highest divine good, because it only sees part of the story and can often act from a place of imbalance.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

How to Tell When Your Personality is Running the Show

If you want to write a book or run a workshop or set up a new venture but you’re not doing it because you’re blocked by fear, that’s your personality running the show.

If you lash out in spite when somebody hurts your feelings, that’s your personality running the show.

If you’re in a relationship where you’re not really happy but you don’t think you deserve any better, that’s your personality running the show.

If you’re not charging enough for your product or services because you doubt the value of what you have to offer, that’s your personality running the show.

Your Soul doesn’t know fear or spitefulness or worthlessness or self-doubt.

It’s Soul work to notice the feelings and thoughts that make you doubt how inspirational, compassionate, loveable and empowered you are. But you don’t need to act on them; you don’t need to give them the power to run the show.

Next time you feel an emotion that’s painful or have a thought that’s unloving, remember it’s just your personality showing you what you need to heal.

And remember that your Soul is standing right by you, quietly reminding you to reach out for more love, more light, more hope, more joy, more peace.

When you reach out for those qualities; those experiences, you are walking home to your Soul.

You feed your Soul when you extend kindness, love, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness to yourself.

You starve your Soul when you do the things that make your heart feel heavy or drain your energy or bring you suffering.

Your Soul never intended for you to suffer. Pain is not a Soul quality.

Your Soul expects you to feel loved, peaceful, empowered, inspired, joyful and alive. It doesn’t know any different. So make the choices that bring more of those qualities into your life and you’ll bring your personality into alignment with your Soul.

5 Ways to Align Your Personality and Your Soul

[for everybody every day but particularly if you’re feeling stuck just now]

1. Your personality connects to your Soul through your heart so the more you let yourself be present with all your emotions, the closer your personality gets to your Soul. The Emotional Balance Kit is filled with resources for understanding and integrating your emotions.

2. Anything that uplifts you aligns you with your Soul. To be uplifted literally means to be lifted up above the everyday experiences of your personality and realigned you with your Soul. Do things that you love and make you feel good.  Often. Daily. Hourly!

3. Spiritual practice of any kind brings you into direct contact with your Soul so whether you like to meditate or chant, drum or pray remember to welcome spirit into your day.

4. Spend time in nature. Explore nature through your senses and slow down to nature’s pace. Take your shoes off and take 100 barefoot breaths, knowing you are held. Notice how inspiration flows when you’re outside and how much more peaceful you feel.

5. Use vibrational medicine – it’s liquid light! Flower and crystal essences balance the parts of your personality that aren’t aligned with your Soul, opening up your gateway to Source. When you take essences, it’s easier for your Soul qualities to travel into your personality so you can let go of habits and beliefs that don’t serve you and experience more love, joy and bliss.

The more you make space to connect with Soul qualities every day, the easier it becomes to follow your Soul’s guidance, knowing that your personality is in alignment with your Soul.

Your divine mission is to be happy. That’s the only script that’s worth making into a movie.

You are so precious. You are so loved. All is well.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Do you wish you could see your life from a Soul perspective?

soul-messageIf you’re feeling stuck or confused or heavy-hearted just now, a Soul message and intuitive diagnosis will uplift you.

You’ll see the bigger picture and realign with your true nature of love and light. I’ll tune into your energy field and ask what your Soul needs for your highest divine good, so you can move forward with joy, clarity and confidence. What’s more you’ll receive a personalised combination of deep-acting flower and crystal essences, lovingly chosen to release any personality patterns that stop you listening to guidance from your Soul. Healing the Inner Child – Love Letters

innerchildcd&coverLast week I launched the Inner Child Meditation Kit and I’ve been blown away at the response to it.

Not only have I sold more Inner Child Meditation Kits in a week than anything else I’ve created, but the feedback people have given me has made me cry.

a tool for allowing powerful shifts that have made significant and tangible changes in my life.

I wasn’t aware of how deeply my inner child had been wounded but the deeper I went, the more I could feel how this wound had been created a long time ago. It felt so magical to go from a sense of being held back to the profound acceptance of who I am.”

It gave me an understanding of something I’d been struggling with for years and brought peace to a restless, conflicted part of me.”

I was able to draw connections between my present life and the past that I never would have come to on my own.”

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Wow!

I know it doesn’t take much to make me cry but nevertheless it’s incredibly humbling when people have profound shifts in the space that you hold for them. That is always my intention – to hold a safe space for emotions to be felt and lovingly released so I’m delighted when I hear it’s working!

Deep healing happens when we make space to feel rather than to analyse or avoid. We meet our hearts and we grow into our Souls.

Little by little, becoming more of ourselves. Who we truly are.

By healing childhood wounds, you take a radical leap forward in personal healing and empowerment. All of us, to some extent, have inner child healing to do and it changes everything!

This is soul work, most tender. This is healing, soul deep. You can always choose to heal.

To celebrate the launch of the Inner Child Meditation Kit, some of my favourite bloggers are sharing letters they’ve written to their inner children. You’re going to love these letters because they speak universal truths that the children in all of us need to hear.

Writing a letter to your inner child can be incredibly powerful so I invite you to join us by writing a letter to your inner child this week.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Writing a Letter to Your Inner Child

If you’re using the Inner Child Meditation Kit you can write a letter to yourself at the age that emerged for healing in the meditation, otherwise choose a time in childhood that you know needs healing.

Perhaps your parents were splitting up and you felt responsible; perhaps you were bullied by people who didn’t understand you so you learnt to change to fit in. Perhaps you experienced childhood abuse that prevented you from feeling safe or trusting.

Maybe you felt like you weren’t good enough so had to do certain things to gain approval; a new sibling came along and you felt neglected or you felt stupid or ugly compared to your friends.

What words of love, understanding and support can you offer to your child self?

What does loving adult you have to say to child you that went through difficult times? What did you need to hear at that age? Often it’s something as simple as knowing that you are loveable just as you are and that everything is going to turn out OK.

Set aside 15 minutes, light a candle or incense. Cuddle up in a blanket with your favourite music playing in the background. Write a letter to the child you were. You might find it helpful to pull out a photograph of yourself at that age. Write as though the child receiving your letter is the person you love most in the whole wide world.

The Feral Inner Child

Feral I’m muddy, dishevelled and wild. Tearstained, barefoot, clutching a baby to my breast but it’s not a baby. It’s a tattered piece of skin with no features, no body and I’m wailing like a lost soul. Hammering at the door of the cottage high up in the moors while the rain whips around me….

We Don’t Need to Force

We don’t need to force ourselves to open our hearts.  It happens naturally when we let ourselves feel. We don’t need to force ourselves to feel forgiveness or compassion.  These qualities arise spontaneously when we stop avoiding the pain that hides in our hearts. So if there’s a person or a situation in your life…

Top 3 Bach Flower Remedies for HSPs

Discovering that I’m a HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) was one of those moments when a whole roomful of lightbulbs went on in my head. Here was me thinking I was too sensitive to cope with the world or weird or melodramatic or a bit of a diva, but it turns out I’m just a HSP. Who…

Sometimes Pain Can Be Your Friend

My Word of the Year

My word for 2013 is Expansive. It’s both a template and a touchstone for the year ahead and already I can feel its impact on my life. 2012 was a strange year for me. 2011 was filled with expansion and dreams come true and I expected more expansion in 2012 but I contracted instead. That,…

Spirit Whispers

For weeks Spirit has been whispering to me to create a new meditation on inner peace. But I’d decided I didn’t want to.  Every bit of me pushing against it like a rebellious teenager. Inner peace? Yawn. How dull. How passé. I’d much rather do something DEEP and HEALING and TRANSFORMATIONAL. So I manifested a…

An Unexpected Visitor

Yesterday I had an unexpected visitor who I haven’t seen for ages. She hadn’t warned me she was coming and I didn’t expect her to visit me here in the house of breath and light and stars. But she came – she sometimes does at this time of year – so I made space to…

The House of Breath and Light and Stars

We got the keys to this house at October’s full moon, and I have never felt more at home or more at peace. I’m constantly swimming in waves of gratitude that flow from my higher heart and radiate out all around me.  Sometimes the beauty and gratitude overwhelm me and I find myself crying because…

All Change!

When we visit somewhere that feels familiar we assume we’ve been there before; wondering if we know it from a past life or a forgotten dream. I think that’s just part of the story. I think we are as likely to recognise somewhere from our future as we are from our past. I think that…

Stag Party

I was at a stag party* yesterday with a group of (mostly) strangers.  Today I’m a different woman. Today I feel like I am a woman rather than a girl. We were exploring the wild woman who is initiated in the underground forest, and the theme we worked with throughout the day was how to…

The Alchemy of Fear

It’s hard to pinpoint the moment when we begin any kind of spiritual journey but I remember two experiences that happened around the same time in the mid 90s when I lived in London. I began to use the Artist’s Way to help me work through soul-deep feelings of hopelessness and I was attuned to…

The Courage to Want More

I never wanted to move to this house or this city. It was the location chosen by the man I loved and I finally gave in to the inevitability of it. He had tried to live in the place that I loved and I could see him becoming less and less of himself. His light…

Chasing the Inner Child

All summer I’ve been playing chase with the inner child healing package I’m developing. Months ago I created the inner child healing meditation and then ideas for an accompanying workbook began to come to me in my morning pages, so it evolved from inner child healing meditation to inner child healing package. Everyone who has…

Is Anybody Home?

These are the Days of Heart Surrender

I told my mum my biggest secret one night when I was helping her to wrap Christmas presents on my parents’ bed. My parents’ bedroom was out of bounds, sacred space where the children didn’t go except that one night of the year when we’d wrap all the Christmas presents that had been hidden in…

Opening Up To Your Spirit Guide

I’m delighted to share a guest post from soul sister Karina of Karina’s Inner Space here today, particularly as she’s writing from the south of France and her words are soaked in the sunshine we’re lacking here in the UK at the moment! I met Karina through the Goddess Circle and instantly fell in love…

My Year in the Goddess Circle

A confession I wasn’t sure about the Goddess Circle and Leonie Dawson at first. She seemed to be suspiciously happy and giggled a lot. Being happy and giggling a lot are qualities that I love in my friends, but the truth is that I made a judgement that it meant that Leonie’s work wasn’t very…

Tales of the Unexpected

The epiphany I’ve been waiting for came from left of centre. It came in the form of this crazy idea that I would stop doing one-to-one consultations by phone and in person. Controversial. Unexpected. Surprising. The last thing I thought I would do yet the more I thought about it, the better it felt. My…

No Leaflets or Flyers: The Power of No

The final straw was when a leaflet plopped onto the mat entreating me to support a campaign against same sex marriages. I was already feeling annoyed by the endless junk mail that I carry to our recycling bin every day,  but that leaflet transformed me from annoyed into irate grizzly bear territory. So I shredded…

You Don’t Have to Do It All On Your Own

Life isn’t meant to be hard, it’s meant to be joyful.   We all know that intellectually but how many of us really know it? How many of us live it? Not me for sure. Well, not ‘old’ me but I think ‘new’ me is finally getting the message. As a society we’re determined to…

Postcards from the Void

The Gift

This week Charles Eisenstein’s words about the gift economy have been talking straight to my heart. I want to pass on the gift of his words to you too because gifts are for sharing. “Life itself – our human lives – is a gift. Our lives, our talents, our abilities, our privilege to be human…

What The Flowers Want You To Know

We wouldn’t exist without plants. In the BBC documentary ‘The Power of Flowers’, Professor Iain Stewart revealed how the greatest changes on the planet have been driven by plants. The earliest plants evolved specifically to attract insects to interact with them. These insects drove the evolution of all mammals, which is where our human story…

The Arms of Acceptance

Criticism Can Open Your Heart to More Love

I was waiting outside the school gate watching the other parents gather. Instantly I could feel myself judging her; thinking she’s a…

The Hidden Heart of Hellebore

When Connecting With Nature Feels Sad

For many days I’ve felt a call to the river. To walk beyond my usual places on the edge of the woodland. To explore where the path becomes overgrown and the mud flattens onto a grey beach. Where seabirds feast and ducks fly low to the water, where litter sits on the tideline and the…

On Not Being a Healer
